SHORT TERM COURSES

These new courses are geared to offer building and repair in two days to four week sessions.

Build an Electric Guitar - one week $2700.00

Standard building Course (solid body, with bolt on neck)

Add Ons:

Thin - line solid body $400.00

Set neck or neck through $400.00

Binding (plastic only) $400.00

Build an Acoustic Guitar - two weeks $4500.00

Build an Arch Top - two weeks (pre carved top) $5000.00

Carve your own top - three weeks $6000.00

Build a Ukulele - One week $2200.00

Pre - preparation - 3 days $1500.00

Finishing Techniques - 2 Days -$1000.00 - Learn how to apply Clear, Solid, Transparent and Sunburst. This workshop includes Pore Filling

Repairs - 2 Day $800.00

Repairs - One Week $1500.00

Repairs - Two weeks $2500.00

Repairs - Four Weeks $4000.00

We provide high quality parts, if students wish to bring their own, the fee will be reduced to the cost of our parts. Woods used: Alder, Walnut, Northern Ash, Cherry, Maple, Cedar and Mahogany.

Students wanting wood other than listed will depend on availability and an additional fee will be added, which will be determined by current price.

These courses and fees include all materials, supplies and hardware. No case, No inlay, no finish.

After more than 30 years of teaching, Summit School of Guitar Building and Repair Inc. has closed it's doors. Sigmund Johannessen will continue to teach Building and Repairs under the new business name SJ Guitars and Luthiery Training.

Enrolment is limited to 2 full time students at a time. We operate on a first come basis.
